Welcome!

My friend Matt had organized a trip across the United States for a new business of his. I was headed out with him but the trip failed miserably after only making it to Idaho. I was going to keep this blog of our national tour (hence the name) but now I just update it with stuff I've been doing.

Mail is here!

On Saturday I received a nice little package in the mail from Arizona. I had almost forgotten that I ordered a ticket for the BCS National Championship game in Glendale, AZ. I had to purchase a bundle for all three Arizona bowl games in order to get the one I wanted. The package was just over $600 but was a better deal than finding tickets online.

So shiny...

I think a quick trip to the Nike employee store is in order:

And of course I still don't know how to take a proper picture on my phone.

Ducks run (all over) south central LA

Ok, so I didn't specifically go to LA to see Manny Pacquiao and the Blazers. The main purpose of the trip was to see Oregon beat up USC in the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Tickets were easy to come by since its huge and no one in LA cares about the Trojans right now.

James and myself met up his cousin and our navigator Angel who is from southern California went to UCLA so naturally he hates the Trojans. The Coliseum looked real shitty up as we started to get up close to it. It was shitty, but it was also pretty cool. It has hosted the Olympics, the LA Raiders, and the likes of OJ Simpson and Reggie Bush. Walking into it and seeing how huge the bowl is was pretty spectacular. The seating sucks, especially the away section. Long story short, Ducks run away with the win and I got drunk and yelled at people with my bullhorn.

Blazers vs Blake Griffin in LA

We didn't come to LA just to see Manny. Our friend Mark hooked us up with the Nike suite to the Clippers season opener vs the Blazers which happened to be Blake Griffin's first NBA game.

Staples is an amazing arena. Its like what they probably hoped the Rose Quarter would turn out to be. Clippers fans suck though and we had to share the suite with a few who quickly backtracked on being fans once they were losing. But they did buy us beer after James won a bet with them. The Clippers still suck but Griffin is going to be a highlight reel every night.

Stalking Manny Pacquiao in Hollywood

My friend James mentioned it would be cool to go to LA and stalk Manny Pacquiao. That was all the convincing I needed so we headed down there. Ok, so we really didn't stalk Manny but we did hang out around his gym to try and snag some autographs.

We got to the Wildcard Boxing Club where he trains and it was a mad house. It happened to be media day for his next fight and there were crews there from HBO, 60 Minutes, and whatever the big TV station in the Philippines is.

We were just about the only people there to get his autograph due to James's shrewd negotiating skills. We didn't actually meet Manny but we met his brother and his hair dresser. We also ate at his favorite Thai restaurant, which is now my favorite Thai restaurant.

Cliff Lee vs. the Yankees

I picked up a cheap ticket for the Yankees vs. Rangers ALCS game 3. It was my first time at the new Yankee Stadium and that place is insane. Its like a really expensive mall where they happen to play baseball. They have pretty much every type of food from a steakhouse to sushi and a surprisingly large selection of beers.

Cliff Lee killed the Yankees and stadium priced beers killed my wallet. Oh well, he'll likely be playing there next year anyways and I got drunk.
